well the doctor thinks i might have ovary cysts. im 13. they will call me like tommorow or something like that. if i have the cysts then i have to take birth control. what kind do you think they will give me? if you have had cysts and you took the pill what kind did you take? What do you think i will have to take?
It really varies from Dr to Dr. I am pretty sure it will be a monophasic pill(all the same amount of hormones) but that is all I know. I have had two friends that were on bcp for cysts. it did help. Did they do an ultrasound? That is the only way they said their Dr would make sure they were cysts and not something else.
I have ovarian cysts and I've done really well with Seasonale. I would recommend it to everyone with ovarian cysts or irregular and painful periods. It comes in a 3 month pack, and you only get your period once every 3 months. There is also another birth control made by the same company called Seasonique. With this you don't get a period at all. Instead of a week of placebo pills at the end of 3 months, they use a low dose estrogen for one week. My life has been tons better since I started these.
With my ovarian cyst I was given Ortho Tri Cyclen...but there are a lot of new meds since then.
I take Lo/Ovral 28 for cysts and endometriosis, but I take it continuously for 3 months, just like Seasonale (it's cheaper, works the same way, just packaged differently). I've been doing this for 4+ years and it works great for me. Hope you have a similar experience. Also, I agree with the person who said you should have an ultrasound to ascertain it's definitely cysts. Maybe you've already had the ultrasound and are awaiting the results?
